Scrap metal sculptures
I use a variety of materials such as clay and wood but I mainly work with scrap metal which I shape and weld into structures and creatures. It's sourced from local scrap yards, farms, garages and factories. I'm keen to re use and recycle discarded and redundant pieces and turn them into some totally different form.
The landscape, wildlife and climate of Norfolk provides me with the inspiration for my work whether it's the east wind which moves some of my structures or insect like creatures which emerge from the undergrowth. I try to evoke a tension between the heaviness and mass of the metal with the lightness of flight or movement.
And if some of them make you smile..........so much the better!
